What are the hindrances to revival? They are many, and they are very prevalent in many efforts seeking revival today. Some of the most harmful ones are:
- An attempt to replicate through human analysis and effort what God has done before.
- A focus on emotion and manifestation.
- Following a human personality and “prophetic” utterances of man rather than Christ Jesus and His Word.
- The absence of serving as expressed in Philippians 2:1-5.
- Making the move of God an idol.
- Pride, manifested in these ways: Look at my revelation! Look at my anointing! Look what God is doing through me! And then attempting to market or “show off” what God has done.
- The absence of repentance and brokenness.
- A lack of passion for the lost and action reaching them.
- The absence of desperation, supplication and fasting.
- Sin.
With any of these things present, we will not experience a God-ordained move of His Spirit and favor among us.
God already gave us the words we need. 2 Chronicles 7:14-5 and Matthew 5:6 are among them, and this one:
“… Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that He may come and shower righteousness upon you” (Hosea 10:12 NLT).
